Known worldwide as the globes oldest watchmaker, Vacheron Constantin has shown the world its classic and dependable grace through their quality work and historical significance. The timepieces created by this company were owned by some of the worlds greatest leaders, including Napoleon Bonaparte, the Duke of Windsor, Harry Truman, and Pope Pius IX. Started up in 1755 in Geneva, Switzerland by Jean-Marc Vacheron, this legend in the making began creating timepieces. The first complication was finished in 1770, which was followed soon after with engine-turned dials.

His son took over the business later, and the business grew over the years, surviving many transformations. During the Great Depression, however, he brought on Charles Constantin, his only hope of survival. The company was called Vacheron & Constantin, but in the 1970s, they simplified the name to Vacheron Constantin. Currently, the company makes approximately 20,000 watches annually. Although the company has undergone a number of important changes over the years, it is still considered a huge leader and developer in the field of timepieces. Their long history and ability to survive historical times such as the World Wars and the Great Depression has made them one of the best timepiece manufacturers in the world.

This Glashutte PanoReserve watch has no dial per-se – the main plate of the movement doubles as the dial allowing the viewer to enjoy the fine striped/ribbed finish, rubies & blue screws that adorn this fine piece of horology. In addition the designers have ingeniously integrated the Duplex swan-neck fine adjustment & mainspring assembly to be mounted on the front of the movement Time & seconds sub-dial offset to left side – indicated by the black hour & seconds rim. With applied Rose Gold hour markers. Rose Gold & luminous hands. Power Reserve indicator sub-dial located at the 2 o’clock position. Dual Swan-Neck fine adjustment mounted on a beautiful hand engraved decorated bridge. Movement Back Plate is finely finished with striped/ribbed finish, some hand engraved designs & beveled component edges. Glashutte Caliber 66 contains 31 jewels, beats at 28,800 vph & has an approximate Power Reserve of 41 hours.

Soon thereafter, Cartier was supplying the royal French court. In 1899, the third generation Cartier, Louis, joined the enterprise. Cartier formed a joint venture with Edward Jaeger – the Jaeger in Jaeger-LeCoultre – to produce movements for Cartier.

In addition, Cartier used the movements of other esteemed watch manufacturers including Vacheron Constantin, Audemars-Piguet, and Movado. Cartier continues to produce innovative and stylistic watches and enjoys great popularity around the world.
